Pianomouse Music Theory FUNdamentals is a great way to introduce children to music through
the paino. Piano Mouse activities are well-balanced and include lessons and then games
afterwards to review. The game keeps track of your scores so you can see how well you are
doing and what you need to improve on. It starts with the basics (such as pitch and high
and low notes) then moves on the note names, note and rest values, symbols and patterns,
ear training and then a complete review to sum everything up. It has clever ways to help
kids remember where notes are on the piano such as "Hey diddle diddle, the D is in
the middle" meaning that the key in between the two black keys is always a D. Another
great feature is that the tones match the actual piano pitches - I checked. Overall this
is a great game with excellent sound quality and is age appropriate.
This CD-ROM provides a basic foundation for the beginning music student. Each theory
lesson is followed by a fun, interactive game that tests your knowledge.
